8CCC FM 102.1 is an Australian radio shows broadcasting station which belongs to Alice Springs, Northern Territory. The Ethnic format of the station allows for entertaining diverse communities. About 8CCC FM 102.1
In 1981, the station commenced broadcasting with a C class license with current frequency on the FM band. The position of the studio was Anzac Hill High School. The need to voice the Aboriginal concerns for participation in the media made 8CCC compel to support their cause. The Aboriginal society formed an association named as Central Australian Aboriginal Media Association (CAAMA). 8CCC dedicated its four hours to broadcasts content related to Aboriginals until they officially got the license. The authorities relocated the radio station to Centralian College Campus. Hence, it worked in collaboration with the college for the coming 19 years.
Then in 1990, authorities situated a small production in Tennant Creek Training Centre. In 2005, it became independent as it moved to Lindsay Avenue, Old Eastside, their current location. Since 2013, the major motives of this station have been to source grants and raise funds through partnerships. It shared the partnership for this cause with Barkly Regional Arts, NT Department of Education (Tennant Creek Training Centre), and CAAMA. In 2013, it made its way to the Outstanding Small Station Award and Best New Radio Program categories. The operational frequency of this station is 102.1 FM.
Programming
The mixed programming of the station includes the event coverage of music concerts, special language services, local information, and special needs of the Aboriginal society. The broadcasting policy of this station is one-third of its music belongs to The Barkly Central Australia, one-third to the rest of Australia, and the rest of the one-third belongs to the rest of the world.
