ABC Radio Sydney commenced its broadcasting on 23rd November 1923. Initially, it was famous with the call sign 2SB. However, it switched to the present call sign sooner. In 1946, it started broadcasting the national program with parliamentary news.
In 1963, they switched the format with its sister station and began operating the radio shows belonging to local content. Then, in 2002, it rebranded itself as 702 ABC Sydney. Then again, in 2017, ABC Radio Sydney became the branding of this station.
