106.5 KIIS FM is a commercial radio station that operates from Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is famous with call sign 2WFM. It features on Hot AC format. About 106.5 KIIS FM
The station started broadcasting under the name of 2UW on 13th February 1925. Initially, the frequency was reserved on 1125 kHz on AM band. It switched to the frequency of 1110 kHz in 1935 and then to 1107 kHz in 1978. It used to broadcast radio drama. FM became the first one that broadcasted 24 hours a day outside the United States. The format was widely acknowledged during the eras of the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. From the early 1960s, 2UW switched to the Top 40 format and moved away from its older listeners to the younger ones. In 1994, it switched to 106.5 MHz on the FM band. It re-launched itself as Mix 106.5, but in 2014, KIIS 1065 replaced this station’s former names.
Ray Bean programs had introduced as the most innovative AM radio station for Australia in the 1960s. This era, in particular, is famous for the promotion of the content of the ten radio stations in streets, beaches, parks, and shopping. Sydney Royal Easter Show at Moore Park is counted as the most rewarding promotion. In 1969, it launched the first-morning show in the history of Sydney radio. It had a share association with Daily Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph. Hence, it launched its programs from the studio situated in Daily Telegraph Building in Park Street Sydney. Don Rodgers controlled the operation of the newsroom during the era of the Second World War.
