About Triple M 104.9
The station on-aired its first transmission on 2nd August 1980. The station is one of the firstly introduced commercial radio stations. It has belonged to rock format since its first day. The ratings of the station reached their highest point due to the breakfast show. The hosts of this show were Dough Mulray and Andrew Denton. It faced fluctuation in the ratings after Doug Mulray left hosting. In the late 1990s, Andrew Denton rejoined along with Amanda Keller as his co-host.
Due to this host, it became able to reach the highest of its ratings again. Besides this, Club Veg, Vic Davies, and Mal Less also joined the morning slots of the shows and audience share of the status in 1998. In mid-2006, it introduced talkback services where the audience could communicate about their choices. The format of the station became Awesome 80s and played old music. Its name became Triple M FM 105.
It rebranded itself as The All-New Triple M on 3 November 2008 as the authorities switched it back to the previous format. The station has listeners of younger ages. In 2009, it on-aired music from the 1970s to 1980s era. On 23 November 2009, it changed its slogan to ‘Sydney’s Best Rock.’ In 2010, Triple M changed the format as it turned 30. It began broadcasting the music in 1990 with the ‘Sydney’s Modern Rock’ slogan in 2014.
