History has recorded that CHQT was first aired on August 19, 1965. At that time, it was reserved on the frequency of 1110 kHz, with a power consumption of 10,000 watts. The former format of CHQT was the Middle of the Road. In 1985, it was sold to another owner, Monarch Broadcasting, Ld. Then, in July 2000, this station was sold to Corus Entertainment. As the owner was changed, therefore, the station flipped into oldies format. This format was again changed into a variety hits format as 880 Jeo AM. This instability of the formats ended with the re-launching of the all-news radio format.
