99.9 The Fox is a radio station broadcasting an adult contemporary format at 99.9 MHz frequency. Blackburn Radio is the station’s owner. Its sister stations are CHKS FM and CHOK. WGRT and WBTI are their main competitors. The station call sign is CFGX FM. It started official transmission on September 14, 1981, as CJFI by Rogers Communications. Previously it adopted an easy-listening music format with some Top 40-formatted CKJD overnights.
On February 26, 1988, FM adopted its current call sign and format. Maclean-Hunter subsidiary Blue Water Broadcasting acquired the station on July 16, 1987. When Rogers bought Maclean-Hunter on December 19, 1994, it spun off the Blue Water stations to Blackburn Radio. It is a class B station on-airs news, events, entertainment, music, sports, information, traffic, and weather reports. It airs 24 hours transmission on the FM band. In addition, its transmission can listen on the internet worldwide via live streaming.
