CBC Radio One 990 AM is a clear-channel broadcasting radio station launched as VOWN (Voice of Western Newfoundland) in 1943 at 790 AM. The station was founded by the Broadcasting Corporation of Newfoundland, the pre-Confederation public broadcaster. Currently, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation owns FM and operates from Corner Brook, Newfoundland, and Labrador, Canada. It airs transmission on 990 kHz (AM) frequency with a power of 10,000 watts. The station signals cover most of Western Newfoundland in the daytime and cover most Eastern North America at night. It is branded as “CBC Radio One.” It broadcast national and international news, current hot topics, talk shows, weather updates, entertainment programs, informational shows, and best music. Its transmission is available worldwide on the internet through live transmission.
