CFCH FM is a broadcasting radio station owned and managed by Vista Radio. It broadcasts country music formats from North Bay, Ontario, Canada. Its on-air brand name is Country 90.5, “North Bay’s Best Country.” Its broadcasting power is 45,800 kW with a C1-class station. It transmits 24 hours programming, including music, information, entertainment, news, current affairs, weather, and traffic reports. Its transmission is available at 90.5 MHz frequency on the FM band. It also streams live on the internet to cater to worldwide listeners. Its sister stations are CFSF FM and CFXN FM.
History of CFCH FM
CRTC approved the application on September 27, 2018, to operate a new commercial FM radio channel to serve North Bay, Ontario. No formats were declared for the new proposed station at that time. Vista Radio Ltd. also applied to operate an oldies music station in North Bay on October 29, 2019. FM would broadcast with an effective radiated power of 45,800 watts and transmit 126 hours of local programming per broadcast week. Vista Radio got approval from CRTC on May 25, 2020, to operate a new FM radio station in North Bay at 90.5 MHz and carry an oldies format.
Return of CFCH and Launch
Vista announced that it had purchased the heritage callsign CFCHd in June 2020, which once belonged to what is now Rogers-owned CKFX FM. CFCH FM officially signed on the air on June 15, 2021, at 7:15 am at 90.5 FM. “Outlaws and Outsiders” was the first song played on FM and the first gold-certified single by North Bay’s Cory Marks.
