History of CISS FM 105.3
In 1972, KiSS 105.3 FM began its transmission with the call sign CKBY and broadcast a country format. It adopted a hot adult contemporary format on January 9, 2004, along with the 105.3 KISS-FM monikers. It launched with Pink’s “Get the Party Started.” FM adopted its current call letters a month later after the format change. CISS call letter previously belonged to a Toronto radio channel owned by Rogers. FM eliminated most of its pre-1999 playlist in 2011 and added a more 2000s-now direction.
It also added the “The New” tagline in its “KISS-FM” branding and a new logo. It plays rhythmic material, especially during nights and weekends. FM re-branded slightly to KiSS 105.3 in early 2016. In September 2016, it re-added 1990s music to its playlist. It also changed the slogan to “The Most Variety from the 90s to Now.” It again re-branded as “The Capital’s KiSS 105.3” in August 2021 along with changed its slogan to “’90s, 2000s, now!”
