CITR Radio 101.9 FM is a Canadian radio station SITUATED IN Vancouver, British Columbia. It is actually located at the University of British Columbia. Its transmitter is also present on the campus of the university. Thus, the students of the university and volunteers from the community operate this radio station. History of CITR Radio 101.9 FM
It had been emerging and working even before 1982. It first went on air in 1982 after getting approved by CRTC. In 1989, it changed its power to 1800 watts. It had also launched different magazines such as Disorder Magazine that converted into an institution of media later on. It is based on music reviews, book reviews, interviews, articles, etc. Moreover, there was another magazine under the name Elements that was published until 1996.
Programming
The different programs that this radio broadcasts are full of variety. Pacific Pickin’ is the best show to start your morning with. Queer FM is the longest-running program on this radio that features current affairs, culture, and arts. It also focuses on news and entertainment. The Flower Power Hour, hosted by Aaron Schmidtke, provides a place for the artists not represented well or underplayed. Thirdbird Eye is a show that is famous among people who love sports. It features interviews of athletes. Teachable Moments and Into the Woods are shows that are focused on music.
There are evening shows as well. Flex Your Head is a show that invites guests and music bands from around the globe. Crimes and Treasons is a 2-hour long show based on uncensored music. Seasons of Life, Planet Fhloston, Stranded- The Australian Canadian Music Show, Suburban Jungle, The Shakespeare Show, Dialectic, Arts Report, Research Review, I Come From the Mountain, Ninth Wave, Off the Beat and Path, Rocket from Russia, Cushy Radio, Astro Talk, Listening Party, Feeling Sounds, The Blue Hour, etc. are also some of the famous shows. But, the list of the shows featured by this radio is very long, rarely ending.
