Radio CKAU airs French language transmission on 104.5 MHz frequency on the FM band. The First Nations community radio station operates from Maliotenam, Quebec, Canada. The Radio Corporation was established in 1984. The board of directors comprises seven people from the Mani-Utenam and Uashat villages. They are responsible for continuing the work necessary to ensure the radio operates appropriately. Radio got its broadcasting license from CRTC for the 104.5 MHz frequency, for a transmitter on the 90.1 MHz frequency, channel 283 in Mani-Utenam, and channel 211 in Uashat on December 23, 1992.
To deliver local information, the channel has established itself for the two respective communities, Mani-Utenam and Uashat. Its debut transmission was only playing the music with new hosts. The Mani-Utenam gymnasium’s ground floor has a small room where the radio was first situated. Mr. Dominique Gill developed and installed all of the radio equipment while guiding through the radio animation process. It airs horoscope, Innu music, French and English music, and 80s to French-speaking music. It also broadcasts Local and regional news and interviews with community stakeholders. The radio mainstreaming is also on-air worldwide on the official website.
