History of CVUE FM
It was in August of 1994 when an ad was given in a newspaper. In 1955, a society came into being namely ‘Sunshine Coast radio society’. This society aimed at providing the community radio services to the area of Sunshine Coast. The medium would be airwaves, and it would broadcast news and music of public liking. The radio also talked to different cable networks so that their shows could be heard on television. Initially, the timing of their shows was 1-2 hours.
These shows included reports related to fishing, music, story narrating, and interviewing personalities at the local level. Due to lack of money, this phase ended in 1997. During 1999 and 2000, new community radio was established which came to be known as CVUE FM 105.9 FM. Its station was moved to a secondary high school in Sechelt in 2008. It became possible due to The Lions Club because it funded generously to construct the studios. The radio station celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2010 owing to the people of that area who are very supportive.
