Phalaphala FM 107.8 is a broadcasting radio station situated in Polokwane, Limpopo, South Africa. The radio aired on the 2nd of February 1965, after the merger between Radio Venda and Radio Thohoyandou in 1998. These two stations were from different backgrounds. One being Venda Bantustan origin and Radio Thohoyandou being an SABC public broadcaster. Radio Thohoyandou broadcasted in English and had a commercial wing. But it did not have the same license conditions as Radio Venda. It transmits out of Limpopo in Tshivenda. FM presented itself as being warm, approachable, and energetic. Radio Venda can be received mainly in Gauteng and Limpopo provinces.
The broadcasting frequency is 107.8 MHz runs on the FM band. It broadcast local news, entertaining shows, informational programs, and the best music. It also promotes culture, norms, and values. The radio can be tuned any time of the day. Its listenership is based on proudly South African’s young male and female who are passionate to do something different in the world in which they live through education. FM target broadcasting areas are Limpopo, Parts of Gauteng, North West, and Mpumalanga Provinces. Over 250,578 listeners listen to the live channel’s transmission.
