Tuks FM is a campus-based broadcasting radio station in Hatfield, South Africa. It was formed in 1980. The University of Pretoria owned the station. In the beginning, it transmits only in the cafeteria of the University of Pretoria’s Hatfield campus. It officially launched live transmission on 9 February 1981 by David Kumar. Between 1982 and 1984, It expands its broadcasting to all university residences, Onderstepoort, and Medical Campuses. In 1993, It got a one-month temporary broadcasting license. FM was again awarded a two-month temporary broadcasting license in 1994.
In 2011, The station registered under the Enterprises at the University of Pretoria (E at UP) as a trust. The E at UP works to implement, develop, and manage the University of Pretoria’s commercial activities. In 2012, it won five MTN awards, including Campus Station of the Year. MTN radio awards in 2013 again won the Best Campus Station of the Year for the second consecutive year. In 2014/2015, FM was awarded Campus Station of the Year. The station celebrated 35 years of broadcasting in 2016. FM changed its format from rock to a mix of house, hip hop, RnB, pop music, and R&B to better represent a diverse youth market.

It redesigns its program line as “Young, Fresh, Relevant.” In 2018, at Liberty Radio Awards, it won four awards, such as Best Breakfast Presenter and Best Afternoon Drive Show. In 2019, FM again achieved many awards. It won five awards, including innovation. In these awards, FM was the only station nominated among commercial giants. It also got an international Small Business Award, hosted by a UK-based company, Corporate Vision magazine. In addition, it hosts many events, like Tuks FM Freshers, an alumni reunion event featuring the Tuks FM’ers of yesteryear. FM is the most awarded station in South Africa. Its broadcasting frequency is 107.2 MHz on the FM band. The station has the slogan “It’s about now.” Listeners can listen to it worldwide via online streaming available on the internet.
