History of WEBN 102.7 FM:
In the beginning, Frank Wood, Sr, was the owner of this station. The station broadcast classical music day times and jazz programs all night. WEBN is known as 1st ever FM radio station in America that on-air rock music. In 1973, WEBN moved to eastside’s Hyde Park Square that was known as “Hyde’s Meadow.” In 1988, it went towards Mount Adams and called “Frog’s Mountain.” Jacor bought a clear channel in 1999. Finally, in 2004, all Cincinnati Clear Channel stations moved to the northern neighborhood of Kenwood.
Advertisements:
The station advertised products by “Brute Force Cybernetics.” It uses the logo of three monkeys having the theme of “see no evil, hear no evil, and speak no evil.” The channel broadcasts tongue-in-cheek “ads” for BFC “products” are Cultured Truffle Franchises, negative-Calorie Cookies, Portable Hole, Precognitive Scanner, Stereo-Vision and Voice Equalization Ampules.
