It started its broadcasting on May 6, 1960, under the management of South Africa Broadcasting Corporation (SABC). It is the second-largest radio channel in South Africa, with more than 5 million listenership. Ukhozi FM is its sister station. The transmission is available on 91.6 MHz on the FM band. The radio serves its audience 24/7. Its mottos are “Uno Mhlobo Mholbo! – You’ve Got a Friend!” Its shows are based on entertainment, the latest national and international developments, music shows, news reports, competitions, sports programs, talk shows on current affairs, lifestyle, and traffic and weather updates.
