Top Albania Radio (The Coloured Radio) located in Tirana, Albania. Its frequency is 100.0 MHz FM. It was formed on 14 February 1988 that is also called Valentine’s Day (the lover’s day.) They are famous for broadcasting 24 hours a day and come up with the best news shows, sports programs, music programs, and cultural programs. Their slogan is ‘non-stop only on top.’
History of Top Albania Radio:
FM 100 is the largest radio station in Albania. It started broadcasting on February 14, 1998. Top Media owns it who’s headquarters is located in Tirana. It offers both analog and online broadcasting. It also broadcasts in satellite frequencies using Eutelsat W3C (16E). The main studio and server are located at “Piramida,” Tirana covering the principal city of Albania. It is part of digital and AbCom networks, the flagship media in the country, and IPKO in Kosovo. It has two sister stations, TopChannel and TopNews.
FM 100 was founded by Dritan Hoxha, a successful journalist in 1998. Two years later in 2000, it took the first national license for private broadcasting covering about 95% of Albanian territory. In 2001 it started to grow and moved the studio to the National Culture Centre “Pjeter Arbnori.”
In 2002 it gave more importance to flash news and discussing programs which gave it a significant boost in the audience.
About 19 editions and programs begin transmitted, including news and music.
Three years after, FM 100 with its signal, covered even the Albanians over Balkan. Since then the station has been known as The Albanian Coloured Radio.
Competitors:
Radio Kontakt is the biggest competitor of FM 100. Its frequency is 89.3 MHz. They broadcasted the latest hip-hop music in Albania. It is known as the first commercial FM station in Albania.
Famous Programs:
The first program was a hit-parade with songs called “Songs” by Gerta Heta. After, that many other artists joined this channel like Alketa Vejsiu, Arbana Osmani, and Boyken Lako.
This FM now known as “TAR” became more of an institution than a radio station. It was the root of Top Channel and Digital.
The latest news is broadcasted hourly with a wide variety, including culture and sports.
This radio promotes and produces about 40% of the Albanian music playlist. Young and old have followed the radio because of the variety of its programs.
