Historically stating, on December 8, 2009, CRTC approved CKRD to be on-aired. Hence, CKRD-FM touched the frequency for the first time on April 1, 2011. The call name ‘CKRD’ was used from 1949 – 2000 previously by another radio station, which is presently known as CHUB-FM. But, this call name was opted by this radio station, afterward. This call name was also used by a currently defunct television station, known as CHCA-TV from 1965 – 2005.
