2HD Radio is a radio shows broadcasting station, which is situated in Newcastle, NSW. Super Radio Network controls and owns this station. The station broadcasts content in News talk and Classic Hits format. It has been branded as 2HD. The coverage area includes Newcastle and the surrounding area of the Hunter region. This station is the second oldest surviving radio station in Australia. The studio is present in Sandgate. It also has a sister station named New FM.
About 2HD Radio
The station on-aired its first show on 27th January 1925. It is established by Hugh Alexander Mckay Dougals, also known as Harry Douglas. William Johnston bought this station from Douglas in 1928. In 1930, Airsales Broadcasting Company purchased 2HD from William Johnston. After ten years, Airsales moved the studios of this station to Sandgate from the Suburb of Hamilton.
The authorities decided to close 2HD due to worse circumstances of World War II in 1941. The station had a staff of 25 members at that time. After the war, the Australian Labor Party and Labor Council of New South Wales collaborated to reopen it. Hence, the station resumed its transmission from 15th January 1945. The Labor Party and NSW Labor Council shared the ownership of 2HD from 1945 till 1999. During these 29 years, Jim Storey, along with his wife Twink, managed the station. Twink was a program director of 2HD. The station had switched to an Alternative format. In 1977, the building of the studio started demolishing.
Therefore, the authorities built a new building of administration in 1977. It was known as ‘the submarine.’ The station was ranked number 1 in 1987. The station was operating in news and talk format. In the 90s, 2HD maintained its position in the top ranking by providing quality content. Bill Caralis bought this station from the NSW Labor Party and the NSW Labor Council in 1995. In 2018, the partnership with Crocmedia repurchased A-League and AFL to 2HD after facing many disputes.

The weekday presenters of 2HD are Dave Cochrane, Gray Stewart, Marcus Paul, Richard and Kim, The John Laws Morning Show, Brent Bultitute, and Graeme Gilbert.
The presenters of Saturday shows are Poppy, Marcus Paul, and Carter Edwards. The presenters of Sunday shows are Marcus Paul, Dave Cochrane, Poppy, and Carter Edwards.
