On June 9, 1975, two radio stations, belonging to Sydney and Melbourne broadcasted their first program, to entertain and inform the indigenous people. Later, the authorities decided to shift the responsibilities of these two stations to Special Broadcasting Service, on January 1, 1978. The reserved frequency of this radio station is 1440 AM.
