CHIC FM 88.7

CHIC FM 88.7 is a Canadian broadcasting radio station airing live transmissions from Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec. The station transmits on 88.7 MHz frequency on the FM band. It plays Evangelical, Christian, Religious, and Gospel programs. Radio airs live streaming on the official Website around the world to entertain its listenership.

History of CHIC FM 88.7

Some CCE members had the concept for a Christian-Gospel radio in 2001, and numerous persons gathered to set the groundwork for the vision. October 2002: The dream has finally come true, marking a first in Canada’s French-language Christian Gospel radio history. It began FM broadcasting at 88.7 FM in Rouyn-Noranda, Abitibi, with a 50 Watt transmitting antenna. It is the first Francophone radio station in North America. The contribution of globally known musician and evangelist Luc Gingras, who has supported and inspired the station since its inception, cannot be overlooked while reflecting on these early years of radio. He performed numerous benefit performances in 2005, 2006, 2008, May 2018, and October 2018 that significantly contributed financially to the race’s continuation.

The channel was applied to CRTC to increase power to 300 watts because 50 watts was insufficient for the station. CRTC accepted this request in October 2007 and also renewed the station’s license from August 1, 2007, until August 31, 2014. The hospital in Rouyn-Noranda has a new 300-Watt antenna placed on its roof. Due to a great storm in 2010, the top of the Rouyn-Noranda hospital was demolished, and the antenna became unusable for several months. The station was no longer in waves on the FM. Then it applied for 3500-watt power, but the CRTC rejected it. Later, FM got approval from CRTC.

CHIC FM radio worked on the inaugural project of Station Chrétienne Vie Nouvelle in 2014. Our first permanent studios, located in Longueuil, south of Montreal, were finally a reality in January 2016 as the dream came true. With the advent of smartphones, cell phones, etc., Radio CHIC-FM has decided to be a radio that is more present in the Francophonie. As such, it has acquired its first Website and is streaming stereo 128 MP-3 radio. Beyond its limits, CHIC-FM radio was becoming well-known.
