CHDR-FM / The Drive FM is a Canadian radio broadcasting station, which is situated in Cranbrook, British Columbia. About The Drive FM:
In the history records, CHDR-FM broadcasted its first show on October 19, 1957, under the call sign of CKEK. EK in the call sign stands for Kootney Broadcasting Limited. At that time, this radio station was reserved at the frequency of 570 kHz AM. It used to have a slogan of “The Voice of the Rockies” in /the 1960s. On July 27, 1973, CRTC permitted to increase the daytime power, which was from 1,000 to 10,000 watts. But nighttime power was decided to remain the same, which was 1,000 watts. In 1990, CRTC approved the application for the addition of two transmitters, which were aim to be situated at Canal Flats and Kimber; ey. On September 12, 2001, CRTC permitted to move from AM to FM bands at the current frequency. In 2002, The Drive FM changed the callsign into the current one and rebranded it as ‘The Drive.’
Programming:
CHDR broadcasts three main shows, in the morning midday and afternoon. The first one is The Drive Morning show, by Mike Donaldson from 6 am to 10 am. The second one is Mid-days on the Drive, hosted by Dareen Shaben from 10 am – 2 pm. The third one is the afternoon, hosted by Johnny Chops.
