RTA 100.5 FM is a National Radio station of Afghanistan. That is located in the capital of Afghanistan, Kabul. The radio station broadcasts news, information, sports, music, and religious and cultural programs.
National Radio Television Afghanistan is the public-broadcasting organization of Afghanistan. This governmental institute has two national Television stations named, “Afghanistan National Television (ANTV) and RTA (that holds the same name as the institute). It also has a radio station named “Radio Afghanistan” as well as a news media.
Establishment of RTA 100.5 FM:
Radio Afghanistan had started its journey in 1925, with the association of Kabul radio station, during the time of King Amanullah Khan. Two radio transmitters with a capacity of 400 watts were procured from the German company of Telephonkan. One of those has been established on Koti Londoni near the bridge of Artel. And the second one had been moved to Kandahar which at that time broadcast the musical programs and news only, for a few hours. Then further on, in 1976 with the grant aid of Japan, the Television broadcasting services and studios were assembled.
Broadcasting of station:
Radio Television Afghanistan has local sub-stations for all Provinces of Afghanistan. That operates radio services as well. And in some provinces, it has basic television at a provincial level as well. The station broadcasts material that is produced at the provincial level. It also broadcasts news bulletins from the desk of Kabul, Afghanistan. The station is generally directly united with Provincial Governor’s Offices. It also broadcasts content including high volumes of governmental communication.
Media:
Radio Afghanistan returned to the air in Kabul, in late 2001, after the Taleban deserted the capital. For the first time in five years, one of the first signs of change was the music broadcasting over it. Later on, Kabul Television was back on the air, presented by a woman.
Coverage:
RTA will be modernized to be a rock-solid and trustworthy national communication organization. Its radio and television signals cover all the corners of the country. By the modification of its current institutional framework, RTA’s institutional framework will be altered into a more efficient, reliable, free, and autonomous Afghan National Public Service Broadcaster (ANPSB). RTA’s technical, executive, journalistic, and practical skills will be improved. After upgrading its hardware, infrastructure, and software in such a way that the signal transmission is sufficient to spread quality programs over the whole national country.
