About ABC Radio National AM 576
The station on-aired its first show as a test broadcast on 5th December 1923 on public license fees. On 9th January 1924, it was launched officially to broadcast with the call sign of 2FC. 2FC stands for Farmer and Company. Farmer and Company is the original owner of this station. In 1928, Postmaster-General’s Department started controlling all operations related to public license fee stations. In 1932, Australian Broadcasting Corporation and National Broadcasting Service collaborated for the formation of a commission. This commission aims to differentiate the verities of network working under ABC Company.
