About 101.7 WSFM
In the late 1970s, Liverpool Broadcasting and Transmitting Co. Pty Ltd got permission to operate an AM band station to cater to Sydney’s Western Suburbs. Thus, it started its show’s commencement on 23rd November 1978 on 1224 kHz on AM band. It shifted its studios to a complex in Leabons Lane in October 1979. An organization received the demolished building of the studio as a charity.
In the 1990s, it situated another transmitter at Artarmon in the north of Sydney. The new call sign of this station was 2UUS. Still, the public used to refer to this station as 2WS till 2001. On 1st June 1993, the station was re-launched as 2WS to 101.7 MHz frequency on the FM band. Currently, the station broadcasts from the studios situated with its sister stations. Christian contemporary radio, Hope 103.2 broadcasts from the previous studios of WSFM.
