CIBL 101.5

CIBL 101.5 is a French-language community radio station that began its transmission on April 26, 1980, in the heart of the Hochelaga district in Montreal, Canada. At the time, it broadcast on 104.5 frequency from atop one of the Olympic Village’s pyramids. Its antenna power reached only 16 watts. Consequently, its waves concentrated on the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve sector. In order to cover the entire island of Montreal, CIBL changed frequencies in 1991 and went to 101.5.

Additionally, the antenna is relocated to the Olympic Stadium mast’s peak. It has seen the first steps of well-known people whose media careers started on its airways. Jean-René Dufort, Catherine Éthier, Pascal Forget, Monique Giroux, Rock and beautiful ears, Line Beauchamp, Bruno Blanchet, Philippe Laguë, Marc-André Lussier, Mononc’ Serge, Philippe Papineau, Catherine Pogonat and Philippe Renaud animated at FM.

The mission of CIBL 101.5

The station gives voice to the community of Montreal in all its plurality. It produces and distributes French-language content that mostly focuses on local music, culture, and news. It elevates the next generation as well as new and alternative forms.

Openness: The station aims to be open to all. It encourages participation, aims to create a welcoming environment free from oppression, and encourages the exchange of information, resources, and thoughts. It cares deeply about social justice and stands in solidarity with its community.

Audacity: It brings together passionate individuals, paid or unpaid, amateurs or specialists, who have a wealth of curiosity, the confidence to take a risk, and the desire to contribute to a shared project. It is accessible to unknown voices.

Relevance: The station defends journalistic freedom and objectivity in reporting. Delivering correct information and exercising rigor in its operations are FM’s priorities.
