98.5 FM Montreal is a French language talk radio station broadcasting from Greater Montreal Area, Canada and licensed to serve the Island suburb of Longueuil. Cogeco is the station’s owner and broadcasting at 100,000 watts as a Class C1 station. It uses an omnidirectional antenna atop Mount Royal. Its height above average terrain (HAAT) is 298.9 meters (981′). It is one of full-time North America’s FM talk stations and identifies as 98,5 FM. On the weekend, it also plays a few music blocks.
Its sister stations are CKBE FM, CKAC, CKOI FM, and CFGL FM. Its programming content is national and international news, sports, cultural shows, informational programs, weather, traffic reports, and community talk. FM went on air on April 9, 1977, as CIEL FM and adopted its current call sign, CHMP FM, on January 5, 2004. The call sign meaning is CH Montréal Parlé (“Montreal Talks” in French).
