History of 102.7 The Peak
This station first went on air in 1923. Its operating power was 10 watts at that time. It changed its frequency to 1030 k cycles in 1925. Then, George Chandler bought it the following year. It got licensed as CJOR and changed its frequency to 50 watts and 1210 AM. Afterward, increased the frequency to 500 watts and 600 watts as well. FM relocated the transmitter in 1941 to Lulu Island. It also increased the operating power to 1 k watts.
Jim Pattison Group became its owner in 1965 after the death of the previous owner. It also shifted its format from music to talk shows during those years. It again changed its callsign to CKBD in the 1990s. Its format became adult standards. However, in 2008, it wanted to move to 100.5 MHz AM. It was part of the deal that will change the call sign to CKPK FM. In 2014, classic hits became its new format.
