The station’s establishment reason is the growing interest of youth in the commercialized anti-pop movement. This movement was further lead by Daft Punk and Spiderbait. Hence, it went on-air for the first time on 1st April 2001. It used to broadcast the content on an alternative format like Triple J. both stations had similar hosts (i.e., Merrick and Rosso, former breakfast hosts of Triple J). With the passage, all other stations started opting for Nova’s format, while Triple J retained its style, but Nova moved towards a commercial format.
Nova shares major audiences from women of 45-46 age. It is also sponsoring an A-League club known as Sydney FC since 2011. According to the survey conducted in 2014, Nova had an audience share of 4%.
