Smooth 95.3 is an Australian radio show broadcasting commercial station, which is situated in Sydney, NSW. The owner of this station is NOVA Entertainment. It also has a sister station, Nova 96.9. FM has a call sign 2PTV. It broadcasts content belonging to the easy listening format. This format consists of songs from the late 1950s to the present age.
About Smooth 95.3
The station on-aired its first show on 1st August 2005 as Vega 95.3. It served the listeners from the age of 40 to 60 by including music from the 1960s to 2000s. They changed the format into solely music-based in 2006. According to a survey conducted on 8th November 2005, Vega 95.3 had a 1.8 percent audience share from Australia’s radio market’s listening community. In June 2006, changed the slogan along with the shifting of the programming DJs of breakfast shows. This further reduced the audience share to 1.7%. But with time, Vega 95.3 gained the audience share to 2.8%.
In January 2007, the station brought changes in the formatting by including music from the 70s, 80s to the present age songs. The authorities also invested in the advertisement of the station to gain listeners. According to the survey, Vega 95.3 reached to 3% audience share in 2007. The following years brought further increase in the audience share for Vega FM. According to the survey conducted in 2008, it had surpassed the highest rate of audience share, which was 5.7%.
It was ranked 4th in the commercial FM radio market of Australia. It shifted to the format of classic rock format on 12 March 2010. Along with this, it was renamed Class Rock 95.3. In 2011, the station began to be known as Sydney’s 95.3 FM. But on 21 May 2012, Michael Buble re-identified this station as Smooth FM 95.3. As per a survey conducted in August 2015, the station was ranked number 1 with an audience share of 8.2%.
