History of The Team 980:
The channel started its transmission as WRC in 1923. Radio Corporation Of America owned this station at that time. It features dramas, comedies, news, soap operas, game shows and big band. It utilizes 950 AM frequency in 1928 that moved to 980 AM in 1941.
From 1975 to 1977, the channel used “All news” radio format. In 1984, Greater Media bought this radio. It had an association with WRC-TV due to that it was known as WWRC. In 1990, it was a full-time talk station. WTEM became “Sports Radio 570- the team” at 570 kHz. On March 9, 1998, it moved to brand “Sports Talk 980”. On April 20, 2018, Urban One took charge of the station.
