History:
Apex Band on air the radio station in 1940 as W2XWF on 42.18 MHz. In 1941, the channel converted into a commercial FM station, W55NY on 45.5 MHz. The call signs moved to WFGG in 1943 and then WGHF in 1945. In 1946, it began to use 99.7 MHz that changed to 101.9 in 1947. In late 1948, the channel had affiliated with Rural Radio Network in Ithaca, New York. And in 1955, the owner, Muzak, changed its call letters to WBFM.
WPIX-FM:
In 1963, New York Daily News bought this station. It changed its call letters to WPIX-FM on October 11, 1964.
CD 101.9:
On August 22, 1988, the station moved to WQCD. Then its brand is known as “CD 101.9”. On February 5, 2008, it moved to WRXP by Emmis Communication. On July 21, its call signs changed to WEMP. And on October 8, 2012, CBS Radio took charge of the station. Then its call letters moved to Sports Radio 66 and 101.9 FM on November 2. Entercom began to operate this station as an owner on February 2, 2017.
