About 1053 2CA Radio:
On November 19, 1931, 2CA broadcasted its first show. It was the first Canberra commercial radio, using the power of a 50 watts transmitter in Jack’s electrical repair shop. With time, the channel improved and increased its technical features. In 1933, the station started using the power of 500 watts, while shifting to a studio situated near Queanbeyan. Hence, the hill was famous among the visitors as ‘Radio Hill.’
1053 2CA Radio again shifted its studios to Mort Street, Canberra City, while increasing the power from 50 watts to 2000 watts. In 1986, the station got approval to broadcast its shows from the Mitchell Transmitter and Nautel Transmitter through a stand-by transmitter, which was the STC valve transmitter. The station changed many houses over time. In 1990, Austereo and ARN, who were the owners of 2CA, sold this station to the Capital Radio Network. In 2004, Grant Broadcasters shared its partnership with Capital Radio Network. The frequency of 2CA was 1050.
