David Jessel was the first broadcaster who was on air before 6 am on Monday, October 8, 1973, and launched the station. In 1987, it sold LBC. Then, it ran under the new owner media company, Darling Downs. Later it worked under the ownership of Australian entrepreneur David Haynes.
In 1989, the station divided into two different services: the news station on FM and the phone in the station on AM. In 1933, Shirley Porter’s Chelverton Investments purchased it when Crown Communications became bankrupt. It was September 2006 when LBC 97.3 was accessible countrywide. It was available on the digital DAB platform. In 2002, media company Chrysalis bought it in $23.5 On June 25, 2007, it was declared that Chrysalis Group would sell LBC as well as its sister stations The Arrow, Heart, and Galaxy network to Global Radio in $170.
