105.7 Rythme FM (CFGL FM) is a commercial radio station airing a French Soft Adult Contemporary radio format. The station serves Greater Montreal, Canada. The radio flagship of the Rythme FM network operates in many parts of Quebec. It is owned and operated by Cogeco Diffusion Acquisitions Inc. The company also manages its sister stations, CHMP FM, CKAC, CKOI FM, and CKBE FM.
Rythme FM broadcasts as a Class C1 station with a radiated power of 41,000 watts. It uses an omnidirectional antenna atop Mount Royal, 297 meters (974′) and height above average terrain (HAAT). The station’s offices and studios are on Boulevard Saint-Martin Est in Laval. Besides this, it transmits national and international news, entertainment, information, sports, weather forecast, traffic updates, and music. It is broadcast 24 hours daily on the official website via live streaming.
History of 105.7 Rythme FM
CFGL began its transmission history in September 1968 by Jean-Pierre Coallier and Roland Saucier. Its initial broadcasting power was 100,000 watts. The channel serves Laval and the suburbs north of Montreal with beautiful French-language music. It began easy listening format and added more voices to attract a younger audience. It played French soft adult contemporary music full time in 1992. FM again moved to a French mainstream adult contemporary sound in 1999, known as Rythme FM. After that, it became North America’s top-rated French-language radio station. It started transmission in HD Radio on May 17, 2017, and provides a digital radio simulcast of its FM feed on its digital sideband. It returned to soft adult contemporary in 2019.
