CFFR AM – 660 News Calgary is a Canadian radio station. Its studio is located in 7th Avenue southwest in downtown Calgary. Its transmitter is located near Okotoks. It has five sister broadcasting channels. Two sister stations are on TV while three are on the radio. The name of those stations broadcasting on the radio is CFAC, 95.9 CHFM, CJAQ-FM. The name of sister stations working on TV is CKAL-DT and CJCO-DT. It is operating with a frequency of 660 kHz on the radio button. Adequate radiation power of CFFR-AM’s signal is 100-kilo watts. For the first time, this channel broadcasted on 10th January 1984. It broadcasts on the format of “All News.” It airs local, national, international, city news, traffic, sports, business, and information on upcoming events. Its former call sign was “Calgary’s Finest Family Radio.” It uses the slogan “Calgary’s All News Radio.” 660 News is classified as Class B station, in the list of Canadian radio stations.

History of 660 News Calgary:
In 1981, it got a license. CFFR had a request from CRTC not to use the frequency which station owners were demanding because of the technical issues. In 1983, Rawlco Communications Ltd got the approval of using 660 kHz frequency for a new station.
In 1984, CFFR 660 aired for the first time. Its call sign at that time was “Calgary Family Radio – 66 CFR”. Its format was contemporary hits of the ’50s and ’60s. In 2006, it changed its format. It started broadcasting all news format under the brand “660 News”. In 2010 its license renewed.
