CFFR AM – 660 News Calgary is a Canadian radio station. Its studio is located in 7th Avenue southwest in downtown Calgary. Its transmitter is located near Okotoks. History of 660 News Calgary:
In 1981, it got a license. CFFR had a request from CRTC not to use the frequency which station owners were demanding because of the technical issues. In 1983, Rawlco Communications Ltd got the approval of using 660 kHz frequency for a new station.
In 1984, CFFR 660 aired for the first time. Its call sign at that time was “Calgary Family Radio – 66 CFR”. Its format was contemporary hits of the ’50s and ’60s. In 2006, it changed its format. It started broadcasting all news format under the brand “660 News”. In 2010 its license renewed.
